Project Development Group provided comprehensive construction administration services to redevelop and expand this 3,300-square-foot outparcel building at the Pinecrest Plaza Shopping Center in Southern Pines, North Carolina. The outparcel building was formerly a bank with a drive-through window covered by a large canopy structure. Demolition efforts included removing the entire drive-through canopy structure, two corners of the building, complete removal of all interior walls and finishes, and the removal of the old bank vault.
Today, the redeveloped building includes the renovated 3,300 square feet of old bank space and 3,800 square feet of new construction for a McAlister’s Deli restaurant—bringing the total building size to 7,100 square feet of restaurant and retail space. Redevelopment design and construction included careful preservation of the development. All existing trees were saved, specifically the large willow oaks that now shade the restaurant’s patio.
The 280,000-square-foot Pinecrest Plaza is a major destination for consumers in Pinehurst/ Southern Pines and the tri-county region. With a premier location at the corner of U.S. Highway 15/501 and Morganton Rd., two Belk stores anchor this regional center, and other major tenants include Burke’s Outlet, Books-A-Million, Michael’s, and Food Lion.
